| The mean of habit is defined as the behavior
of doing the same thing again and is done almost unconsciously in a frequent
manner. While the meaning of bad is defined as, you guessed it, not good.
Everything else that is not good would eventually bring harm to yourself
or others. In the long run, bad habits pollute your own personality with
undesirable behaviors which for can eventually result in self-destructing
behavior. To truly change your own life, you must change or eliminate your
bad habits.
Even though we are all subjected to changes throughout our life, controlling and choosing specific changes in your life is not as easy. To effectively change your own bad habits, you must first establish awareness, responsibility, resourcefulness and most of all discipline; and follow the steps below. The first step you should do for you to change your life is that you must first identify those habits that would introduce harm not only to yourself but also to others and this is where awareness comes into play. Be aware of what you are doing to, and with yourself; and being be aware of your environment and the people around you can help you distinguish all your habits and separating the bad from the good. For e.g. I had a friend who smokes cigarette anywhere he feels smoking. This worsens his health since he has diabetes, but he is also introducing second-hand smoke to the people around him. It also didn't take long for him to have a heart attack. After recognizing these habits, you need to decide whether to continue doing it or to put an end to it. This is the area where you need to be responsible in doing the righteous thing to do which is deciding to embrace change. Deciding to be responsible for yourself and others is essential for you to proceed in your goal to change your life. Fortunately, my dear friend decided to quit smoking. Next is that you need to be resourceful. There are many methods to change your habits. These may be different among individuals in which has their own unique style of deceiving their minds into doing the less harmful or more beneficial habits instead of the bad ones. One method my friend used was substituting a lollipop for a cigarette. Note that this process may take a long time before your system totally accepts this change as our mindset itself is a process change. During these habit chaning times, some people may not be successful in keeping their enthusiasm for changes. Which now leads us to the final step? Discipline is one the virtue that is hardest to do but the most vital part of the process that should be acquired. All prior effort would be a waste if there is no discipline within the person under going this process. There would be instances that you may not be able to follow those changes you hadset upon yourself. The important thing is how you could get back or change the methods you are taking. There are no guaranteed methods that your chosen process will suit your lifestyle. There are a lot to choose from and you just have to pick what's right for you. Changing those bad habits into more desirable habits is no easy task. But if you are successful in doing so, in the long run you may achieve the life that you always wanted. And it all started when you decided to take acton and change your life and take steps to achieve the goal you have set.
